Since most of the squares for the square a day in May are 12" I've decided to make two different baby blankets from the squares. So there are two different color palettes I've decided to use. One for a girl and one for a boy. They are Hobby Lobby's I love this yarn (of course). I promise I use other yarn, I just have an abundance of this at my house right now and for the May squares I wanted to use yarn I already had.
Pattern: Free SmoothFox's Amethyst Square 12x12 by Donna Mason-Svara
Hook used: H
Colors Used: I love this yarn's Gray Mist, Burnt Pumpkin, Turquoise, and yellow.
I am loving these colors. This color scheme came about in a really weird way. I put one skein of each color of my I love this yarn in a big plastic container because I was just going to do baby blankets out of my stash yarn. I put the extra skeins in another basket and thought, "wow those look really cute together. That needs to be a baby boy's blanket." So there you go I don't have any kind of formula for how I pick my colors, it just happens.
I really like this pattern. All of Donna's patterns are beautiful. I can't wait to make more of them! I also like the 12" square I was a little worried they would take too much time, but it wasn't that bad.
great square!
thanks for joining in! i totally envy your commitment to a square a day for a year! that is amazing and inspiring!

oh, i have a question...how do you join your squares? do you have a post about that?

I dont have a post about joining, but the grans garden blanket was joined with slip stitches after all the squares were made. In the past I have used the join as you go technique.
