Mariah and some recent knitting endeavors

My dog Mariah was put to sleep last night. She was in our family for 13 years so it was quite the difficult thing to do. She had many health problems and was on 8 medications in her last weeks. A few weeks ago when I had John draw the pic for this site I told him he had to include Mariah, because I wasn't sure how long she would be with us. He did and she's too cute I'll probably always keep her on this site somehow as a little tribute to a wonderful friend.

Now that that is over, I have some knitting to share with you. The rest of the things I've been working on are crochet so I've lumped my knitting together. It takes so much longer to knit than to crochet so I have fewer of them.

First, my version of the lace-up opera gloves found here. This is actually my own design. My first ever! I got the idea from Ysolda's pattern, and even tried to make them, but it didn't work out for me. I have fat arms and I wanted them to have a lace pattern. So I worked on these for about 3 weeks and almost pulled my hair out from shaping within the lace pattern I was using. I'm very happy with the results although I wish I would have used better yarn. Caron Simply soft in black never looks good after some wear. I'm going to remake them in microfiber yarn. I can't wait for it to get colder.

Next is Molly's headband from the Interweave knits free online patterns. I made two of these last weekend while I was in bed being ill. They were a quick knit. The white one follows the pattern with the i-cord tie. I don't like tying things so I made the pink one with a little band at the bottom instead. I love these but my hair is too big for them to actually look good on me.

being sick has its perks

I've been sick for the last two weeks. Which hasn't been the greatest. But The good thing is that I got all of this stuff finished. I was going to post everything I've made but I'm tired now and I believe that everything deserves to be talked about a bit. So I will Give you one project today and then I will post a few more posts with the other stuff.

But First Mr. Dangly!
I have wanted to make this cute little guy for a long time. So I made him for my friend Bri who is starting her frist day of teaching 4th grade tomorrow. She really liked him.




Mr Dangly was made out of peaches and cream cotton yarn, so he's not very dangly. I will never use cotton to knit something with this small of gauge ever again! My wrists were very sore while I worked on it. Come back all week for some more installments of what I do to keep myself busy when I'm sick. You may be disgusted by my lack of a life, either that or jealous .

Recent projects

I crocheted hello kitty slippers. These were made from the bunny slipper pattern in the SNB Happy Hooker book. I crocheted kitty ears and made bows from felt. All of the details are embroidered. They turned out so very well!


I also knitted a cozy for my razr. I am prone to dropage so I figured this would help my phone stay pretty. Its not too detailed, but it was easy and fast to make and it fits like a glove.

I think I'm going to put some kind of applique on it, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
