A weekend at the ranch...

I hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend! I went to my parents' place after knitting group on Saturday. We went antique shopping at some of my favorite stores today. I bought some buttons, two aprons, a foot stool, some kitchen canisters, and a fold up knitting basket. I'll have pictures when I get home. Tomorrow we are going to my favorite fabric store in Eufaula. They have fun cheap stuff! Hopefully, I'll get to go to this furniture store I like and maybe find a couch.

My aunt, uncle and their grandson are with us this weekend as well. My parents live in a 350 square foot house. My other family members are staying in a trailer on the propery, we call it our bungalow. The "house" or cabin is a one room building with a bathroom and storage loft. I sleep on an air mattress in the floor when I'm here. Its very interesting. I'll post some pics of the set up, I can't believe how they live here, its crazy. I'm going home tomorrow and then I get to spend the week with my friend Bri. She's going to be my apartment guest for the week, then she is leaving to stay in Texas with her husband whom she hasn't actually gotten to live with since they got married in March. I'm so excited to spend time with her before she leaves, I'm going to miss her terribly.

Ok well I should get some sleep. I just needed to update while I knew I had an internet connection. haha. Have a great Memorial Day!

My triumphant return is pending...

I should have the internet by next Tuesday. I've ordered it, but I have to get it set up myself and figure out where the set up disks for my modem are. Be ready. I have tons of stuff to share!

not much here...

I don't have much to talk about. I just feel the need to write something since I'm in the moving/unpacking/no internet slump. Since there aren't any wireless connections for me to tap into at my apartment, I'm going to have to get internet so I've decided to get it now instead of waiting on when I get my new computer. Then, maybe I can wait until my old computer fails me before shelling out money on a new one. We'll see if that logic works. I really want a macbook, but why buy one if I don't desperately need one?

I am still working on the apartment. I've put up curtains, put away all of my clothing, and even started organizing some of the craft studio of death. Its looking up. I don't feel like I'm living in disarray anymore. I really need a couch, but I'm being very picky about choosing one. My chairs are antique so I'd really like an antique couch. I'm just not sure I want to shell out the money for one. I've been going to antique and thrift stores like a crazy person. I may just have to settle until I have a permanent house to live in. I'm ok with that. I need a couch because the chairs aren't really sit-able. The ones on the right side of the room in the pictures are in need of a chair doctor. The springs are coming out of them. One is worse than the other. I would love to fix them myself. Has anyone done this? Would you recommend it, or would you recommend taking them to a professional? They have been in our family for quite awhile, I wouldn't want to take the risk of breaking them. They are in great shape otherwise, the frames are super sturdy and the upholstery looks like new.

I started my costume for the harry potter book release and movie premiere. I'm going as Molly Weasley. I'm making the ever popular sleeves from The Chamber of Secrets movie. I'm doing them a little different though -- with granny squares at the top of the arm and then building off of that. I bought some premade granny squares off ebay a long time ago and this is the perfect project to use some of them up. I'll post pictures eventually. You know how that has been recently.

and look I have pictures! I still have a LONG way to go but here is my new place somewhat ready for a veiw.

Annoyed

I really hate not having an internet connection at home. I have soo much stuff to share on here and no time to do it. I'll work on it, I promise.

I was deathly ill on Saturday, which meant I missed much needed knitting time! I got some crafting in on Sunday and I got to do some decorating. I made my parents dinner yesterday for Mother's Day. I used my crockpot to make ribs and they turned out amazing! We are going to be friends now I think. I also made cupcakes with strawberry icing and toasted coconut. yum.

Back to work now...hiss!

I just might go crazy...

I'm in some severe need of craftiness right now. I don't feel as if I should sit and knit when there are boxes that need to be unpacked. I have a full list of things that I am ready to paint and make cute for my apartment as well (my favorite part of having a new place). I'm just itching to get out a paint brush and go to town. But my crafting table is covered in unopened boxes or boxes that just need to be sorted through. My bff came over last night and said that my place was in disarray. That made me sad... I really would like to finish stuff faster, I get overwhelmed too easily and then just sit and watch tv or read and ignore everything else. Last night I managed to get my finances together (something I had been putting off for a week or so) and listened to Lime and Violet. That made me happy again. Tonight I start on the boxes again. Wish me luck!

I'm alive...barely

I'm now moved in and my old house is empty. We moved my parents out on Saturday. I've unpacked a little. There's still a lot left to do, many boxes to open and then set aside because I feel overwhelmed. I go into a room and just stand there because I don't know what to do first. Hopefully it will be feeling like a home soon.

I got sick on Saturday from all of the dust of moving. It all finally took over and I passed out for a few hours. When I woke up, I drove to Walgreens in a benadryl induced haze. I was on a mission to find a neti pot, which in my mind was the only thing that would ease my suffering. If you don't know what a neti pot is you can google it and get tons of info, but basically its a little watering can looking apparatus that you put warm water and salt into and then put it in one nostril and pour the water and it comes out the other side. Not one of the most appealing things to look at I'm sure. But OMG it works wonders. I'm feeling much better today and was even feeling better Saturday night after using it twice. Get one! It seriously has changed my life!

Almost there...

Five truckloads, one trailer and three car loads have been taken to the apartment. I still have one or two more car loads left and a trailer with my parents bed for the guest room. My kitchen is unpacked, but there are still dishes to wash and put up so they are just laying on the counters chilling. Its still not quite liveable, but my bed is made so that's a plus. There are just too many boxes in every nook and cranny and all the furniture is in the dining room. I'll take pictures tomorrow Ugh... Moving.
