Such a great tool! It is a little slow, but amazing for something that is free. Go try it!
Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I've started a business and I'm trying to get things ready to launch my etsy store. So please bear with me. I will be around a lot more often in a couple of weeks. Keep watch of my plurk and my flickr because I do update those even when I don't write a post.
I have been so productive this weekend that I am kind of scaring myself. I totally rearranged my spare bedroom and now have a shipping area all put together. I made cookies last night. Which sadly, I will probably be eating all of them by myself today. I've been spinning like mad. I'm trying to finish the Gypsy roving tonight and get it plied. I am pretty sure that I am going to end up with a sock weight yarn. I want to Navajo ply it like crazy but I'm not sure if I'm ready for that with the spindle yet. I just lost my aversion to dropping it.
Today is the return of creative Sundays. I am going to try and get some stuff made for a show in two weeks. I am going to be at a booth with my friend Jen of Bootyjcrochet at the Okie Twist-off. I'll most likely be selling jewelry and resin stuff. I'm really excited about this even because it is a rockabilly event. Squee! I have a new pin up dress for the occaision. I love car shows and good music.
It made about 200 yds of a light worsted weight 2-ply. I am loving this stuff!
Now I'm working on the Gypsy roving I got from Enchanted Knoll. It is spinning up sooo well. And guess what!?! I finally got the balls to drop my spindle and it worked! I was sooo excited. And I've only broken the yarn twice. It is working beautifully.
I can't wait to ply this. I think I'm going to try my hand at Navajo plying. I tried it a little bit on some practice fiber the other day and I really like the way it looks. I think I'm going to enter this one in the state fair.
It would not be right to leave you without a Bella picture.
I made her a puppy sling out of an old t-shirt. She loves it! You wouldn't know that from her face, she isn't very photogenic.
Oh and I'm destashing! I'm working on my book collection right now so head on over to my amazon store and see if you want anything. There are knitting books, library school textbooks, music history and theory books and some fiction. Later I'll be going through my crafting supplies and putting stuff up on etsy. Get ready :)
Update!!! Watch it today while you still can for free! it is getting taken down at midnight tonight.
Ok so you all know that I am a super big Firefly geek. Well Joss Whedon has made another fabulous creation that you need to check out. It is a 3 act webisode that stars Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion. It will be online for free until midnight July 20th at www.drhorrible.com. I was planning on posting this last night, but their website exploded from all of the geeks like me that went crazy and had to watch it right at 7 pm. But you can see the first act now and you should, because it is only 15 minutes of your time and it WILL make you laugh. Even if it is just because of the singing. Oh there is singing and it is fabulous. :)
The last couple of weeks have been crazy. I've been sick, Bella's been to the vet twice, and I took a short vacation this weekend. I have managed to work on some things and I'll take pictures as soon as I get home.
I took Bella to a new vet last week. The new vet, Dr. G, is AMAZING! I had to pay quite a bit of money because she wanted to run tests, but I now know exactly what is wrong with my baby. You ready for this??? She has a heart mummer and an enlarged heart. The enlarged heart has caused her trachea to bend and that is what causes her to cough when she gets worked up. The other vet told me she had congestive heart failure. She also has some slight kidney problems. So the vet put her on some heart meds and gave me a new food to give her for her kidneys. Things are great now. Bella is looking like she is feeling healthy and loved. I mean she always looked like she was loved. :)
This weekend I took a trip to Ft. Worth to see my bestest friends Bri and John. John and I went to Bass Hall to see Avenue Q. OMG I had an amazing time! Friday night was spent in the hot tub and Saturday was spent in the pool. I got a little sunburned, but it was totally worth it. I needed some chill time. Being outside all day made my allergies act up so I'm sick again, but again... worth it. We went to dinner at Fuzzy's Taco (my favorite place to eat... ever) with one of John's friends from Oxford, Bethany, whom I love to see as well. She is so much fun.
After dinner, we went to the show. I was really sick by this point so I really just wanted to pass out. I managed to have fun anyways. Avenue Q is really a wonderful musical. You should see it if you don't mind some fairly obscene puppets acting out life as it really is. The people behind us must have been season ticket holders, because they left at the intermission, saying that they weren't going to tell people that they saw it. I was kind of mad, I mean this show did win a Tony. And it deserved it, even if just for the amazing things they do with puppets on stage. Even though the actors are there the whole time, you really see them embodied in the puppet.
I drove home on Sunday in a OTC drug induced haze. I then realized I had summer school stuff to work on. Surprise! So I did that and then passed out. I can't believe it is already Monday. Oh and guess what? I have an interview on Thursday. I'm not going to get too excited, it's just an interview, but I would appreciate prayers or happy vibes on Thursday at 1. Yeah I think that is all of the boring life stuff I have to share. I'll post pictures later. I hope everyone is having a great Monday!
I have been away from the computer all weekend. But I do have some stuff to share. So this will be another photo dump post. Don't pretend like you all actually read this thing anyways. haha Photo dumps are always my favorites so let's get started...
I spent 4th of July with Levi's family. It was sooo much fun. I made cupcakes... of course.
I didn't get any pictures of fireworks, but they were amazing. If you live in the Oklahoma City area you should definitely go to mustang to see fireworks. They are everywhere! It was really an amazing sight.
I spent most of the day talking and spinning. I finished a batt of the pink and orange stuff.
Saturday was Levi and Dana day. These days are always fun, and usually end up with some antiquing. My mommy is going to kill me but I bought stuff. They were really really good deals and Levi is the master enabler when it comes to shopping. Note to self... no more Levi and Dana days for awhile. These are my purchases...
pink suitcases ($7 each) and a pink light fixture ($20) I have been looking for the perfect light fixture for my craft area for a couple of years. They are always over $50, usually more like $100 so I had to get this one when it was only 20. It may need some rewiring done, but is totally worth it.
New aprons. These were both under $5. I love the fruit fabric sooo much and I really like the pocket on the other one. It's hard to see but it is really cute and kind of gathered at the top. That one is a commercial apron with a "gingham girl" label on the inside. I don't usually get the commercial ones but I found this one to be very crafty looking.
I finished my second country kiddie. I just love this pattern.
Tink likes it too!
Last night we stayed in and watched movies, ate nachos and had a really really good time. My friend let me do him up in drag... Hot tranny mess I tell you...
I'm getting better at making eyebrows disappear.
And it wouldn't be a full random post without a bella video...
This is her potty dance. It makes me laugh at her every time.
