A friend from work and I went to Sara Sara Cupcakes yesterday after work. It is a very cute place. All white with hot pink accents, astro turf front lawn and really simple but cute graphic design. They have 18 flavors of cupcakes 10 of which are offered everyday. The other 8 are rotated throughout the week. all their cupcakes are $3.25 a piece $36 a dozen. They have a milk bar, coffee and soft drinks. It is a family owned business and everyone is really nice. By the way did I mention their cupcakes are fantastic!?
I had the Cherries Jubilee cupcake while I was there, white cake and butter cream frosting with bits of cherries mixed in, topped with a cherry. The texture of their cake is a little crumbly so you have to eat them with a fork, but they taste very good.
I got the Bacon, egg and cheese cupcake to take home for breakfast this morning. I wasn't sure how savory it would taste. I was expecting something like the bisquick cheese muffins. But they were so much more than that. It really did have the cupcake base to it so you could taste the sweet mixed with the savory... an excellent combination.
I'm not a foodie blogger, but I am a supporter of local and handmade, so please go try a cupcake from Sara Sara Cupcakes, on 9th and Broadway. Tonight from 5-9 is their Grand Opening party. I'm going to be there! I hope to see others I know there as well.
