Thursday through Sunday was The Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender. This was supposed to be the highlight of our trip, but I got sick on Wednesday and we just didn't get to do as much there as we wanted to. We went every evening at about 6 and left around midnight so needless to say we missed a lot. I had so many cute outfits planned out to wear, but many of them required more effort to get ready and I just didn't have that much energy. I also had vintage jewelry and accessories, but didn't end up wearing any of it because of the extra effort it required as well. At some point, I'll have to show you my vintage collection accessories, because I love them and usually don't display them to keep them in good condition.
This dress is from target and it is super comfortable. I wore cherry canvas shoes with it (boyfriend hadn't learned that he must get my shoes in the shot at this point). The hat is vintage and probably my favorite, it is from an antique store in McAlester, OK. I felt the worst this day and went to a doctor the next morning. The rest of the days were better because I had an inhaler and meds and what-not. Vacations are hell when you don't feel well.
Thursday was the night we just went to the vendor booths. After walking around in swarms of people all night, I was pooped and couldn't breathe at all. I did get a lot of stuff though. We bought some little things and of course some VLV glass wear and the CD. These are my two favorite purchases... dresses!
This one is a Queen of Heartz dress and I am totally in love with it. I was really bummed that I didn't feel like dressing up enough to wear it while we were there.
This dress is really simple but super cute, though, it does look like a sack on the hanger. It is from Daddy-O's. I wore it to work last week and was told that I looked like I worked in a diner. Good enough for me.
Friday was so much better. I was able to take a nap and fix my hair and just feel so much better about myself.
This is the dress my mom and I made. I really love it! It fits perfectly and the skirt is really quite full. I probably needed an underskirt to fill it out a little more. I'll post more detail shots of this in Part 3. I thought it was cute that boyfriend's shirt matched. We are really bad about being "matchy matchy" without it being on purpose.
We intended to go to the burlesque show that night and were twelve people behind the last person to get into the theater. I was really upset, but we had fun at the Aquasonics performance instead. They have a dancer!
Saturday was the car show and evening burlesque competition. These were the two events I was most excited about, so it was my favorite day. I really love old cars and always have so much fun seeing all the work that people have put into restoration.
I was so glad that I had my parasol! It really wasn't that hot, but having something to block the sun that was there just made it that more enjoyable. I loved my hair, but it was soo freaking huge and I felt like the bride of Frankenstein. Oh well it doesn't look like it was that big. Boyfriend bought that shirt and hat at Viva, he has good taste.
We were at the car show for longer than expected, so we didn't have much time to get ready for that evening. Those shoes are my absolute favorite heels though, in style and comfort. The burlesque competition was wonderful and the performer I picked won! Boyfriend's pick came in second. I was completely astounded by their dedication and craftiness knowing that they make about 80% or more of their costumes.
We didn't get to go to any of the Sunday festivities, because we had to catch our plane, which was sad because I really wanted to see all the vintage bathing suits at the pool party. We loved Viva and intend to go next year as long as things are a little more organized. We decided that we would stay at the Orleans or somewhere close when we go back because it is really hard to make it to a lot of the events when you are staying 20 minutes away.
