So if you follow my twitter, you will know that boyfriend and I went to Vegas April 4 - 12th. Yes I know I'm late blogging, but really did you expect much else from me? I've been a sub-par blogger lately. I blame boyfriend.
We stayed with his awesome brother and sister-in-law. Let me just tell you that they are good, fun, people and I can't wait to go back and visit. It is only a perk that they live in Las Vegas!
I would have to say the best part of the trip was going to the Retro Bakery.
I will sing the praises of Retro Bakery for the rest of my days... really... their cupcakes are THAT freaking good! I'm still trying to convince boyfriend that we need to have them shipped here weekly. We went on Monday after I twisted the boys' arms to take me there. Sometimes it is hard to get boys to go to cupcakes stores, I'll admit it. Boyfriend really doesn't like cupcakes that much. But once we got those little mounds of sugar and happiness, they changed their attitude. I believe the quote was, "these are f-ing delicious!" In fact, they loved them so much, they talked about how they had to go back before the week was up. They went by themselves on Friday, and I am so glad they picked that day to go, because I must say the Friday pancake cupcakes (I had the blueberry and tasted the maple bacon) are by far the most unique and yummy thing I have ever eaten. The only sad thing about this place is that it is not in the tourism part of Vegas, but they will ship $20 worth(some zips for a small fee) to anywhere in Las Vegas, if you are in a hotel on the strip and can't find a way there. Get them, you will love yourself for it.
The beginning of the week was pretty much devoted to seeing Vegas. We stayed at the Stratosphere on Tuesday, went to the shops, watched the water show at Bellagio, played tons of slot machines (My favorites were the Happy Days Machine and the Frog Prince). We also went to a lot of Antique/Vintage stores. I would have to say my favorite for their aesthetics is Retro Vegas. It's a cute store full of mid-century modern furniture and other quirky things. AND... They have a completely PINK kitchen display (swoon):
We bought a vintage Sands ash tray since the other stuff I loved wouldn't fit on the plane (sad day).
I also went to Williams Costume Company to get some hat making supplies. I would say any crafty type person should go here because of its awesomeness. Reading reviews on-line will say that crabby old ladies work there and they are mean, it's partly true. A crabby old lady helped me, but she was really funny and you could tell she had tons of stories she would be glad to tell you over a bottle of scotch. I bought a bunch of feathers and veiling. I don't have pictures of the feathers, but here is the veiling I purchased. Hot pink, light pink with chenille, and burgundy. I used the burgundy for a project while I was in Vegas.
