This happens entirely too often...

Look at that, My craft room has exploded again!

It looks like it is time to purge.

Paint is also in order. I'm thinking of these colors:

A bright pink and a light gray. I'll probably end up painting the trim white as well. This is the only room in the house that doesn't have white trim.

And I must have these in aqua or yellow.

A new chair would rock my face off too.

 
  But first, the cleaning has to begin.

Birthday cupcakes

I am 27 today!

My mom gave me my present this weekend. It's a quilted cupcake wall hanging. Isn't it cute?!

She even appliqued a note on the back. :) She's the best!

Sheldon also got me cupcakes for my birthday!

Yum! These are from my favorite cupcake bakery in town, Cuppies and Joe. The ones in the middle are my favorites they are called boom boom pow. 

Sheldon also got me both seasons of Pushing Daisies on Blu Ray which I am watching today since I'm not feeling well. Besides being sick, my birthday has been great so far!!

Cup Pies

On Friday, I decided that I needed to make some practice cup pies to see what I wanted to do for the wedding.

They turned out very well! A couple of the tops weren't secure and some filling oozed out but, other than that they were fantastic! I used this recipe for the crust and just used some canned apple pie filling. Next time, I'll be making them with wild blackberries from my parents' farm.

I even spread some honey on top of the crust for authenticity. It made it golden brown and yummy!

They were perfect with vanilla ice cream. I can't wait to make another round of practice pies :)

Paper Dolls!

Once I saw this blog post on magnetic paper dolls, I knew I had to make them for Sheldon's (and my soon-to-be) nieces for Christmas. I have a hello kitty magnetic paper doll set that they love so I knew this would be a perfect gift. It took me quite a while to make two sets of dolls. Instead of cutting a square around each piece like the tutorial said to, I made a 6x6 inch canvas in photoshop and placed all of the pieces digitally over 8 canvases. I was able to use a lot more of the magnet this way. I cut the magnet into 8 6x6 pieces and attached those to the 8 doll pieces. I spent most of the week cutting out pieces. If anyone wants to make these and wants the pdf of the 6-inch squares I made, email me and I'll send them to you. It makes the process much easier.

We celebrated Christmas this weekend with his family and I got to give them their presents.

The paper dolls were a hit! I got a few pics of Rosie playing with her set after the family left.

Oh and by the way, she named them Miss Tarkles and Tredda. Such a creative one, that girl.

We had Rosie over last night and I decided that I would make some more magnetic paper dolls out of a paper doll set that I got from Red Velvet Art. Elise's Fox paper dolls are adorable! I love how they look on the fridge.

And Rosie enjoyed them too. She was glad that Hello Kitty had a friend.

I am totally in love with these magnetic paper dolls and I'm really glad the girls like them too!

The Wedding Muse

I've been looking at wedding blogs before Sheldon and I were ever even thinking about getting married. They're just beautiful inspiration. Since we got engaged, I really started to focus on what I wanted my wedding to look like. I've copied photos into an inspiration folder and have come up with a few ideas here and there, but never really had a good solid foundation to build on. I haven't really done a ton of planning because I don't like everything to be scattered. I will waste time and money that way.

Well today, it struck me... Pushing Daisies... I have a muse!

It was a given really. I wanted lots of bright colors, daisies because they are my favorite, and cupcakes (for me)and cup pies (for sheldon). I just wish my parents' lawn was a floral oasis like the above picture. There will be plenty of handmade elements a long the way. I'm super excited!

Now I feel I can go somewhere with this.

Why hello there 2010...

I have been so busy working on goals that I haven't yet been able to post them on here...oops

1. Wedding prep!! - the most important thing this year. This wedding is a go and I haven't really done anything.
2. Blog more - Inspiration, wedding updates, tutorials, and more. I have a lot to say, but often, not a lot of time to say it. I think this will require writing on weekends and posting throughout the week. It could work ;)
3. The blog needs a facelift.
4. House renovation - there are many things that need to be done, but I would really like to concentrate on the craft room, dining area, and kitchen this year.
5. Etsy - I've been slowly collecting things to open a vintage shop on etsy and I also plan on reopening the handmade store.
6. Craftyminx - I decided this is the year for Craftyminx to expand. My goal is to sell in 3 brick and mortar stores and do at least one more craft show this year. (I have already started working on this goal and I now have homemade goods in DNA Galleries in the Plaza District!)
7. Graduate - This is my last semester of Library school. It would be great to move past school and not have to ever go back!
8. Cook more - Sheldon and I both love to cook, but we find ourselves eating out way more often than we should mainly because we like to go to new places. But we really need to be making our own food and this will probably be the hardest goal, because of the time it takes. I don't want to cook when I've been working all day and know I have crafting fun that I would rather do.

Of course there are the old standby goals of saving money, being healthy, and paying off the credit cards (which is definitely happening this year!) but do I really need to add those to the list?
