I've been tagged by Laurendy from laurendy home with 5 questions! I’m normally not one to do these things, but I like Laurendy and these are some pretty good questions that I haven’t really answered on here so here we go…
1. What was your inspiration to first start blogging?
I can’t believe I’ve never talked about this before. It’s kind of a long story actually. When I was in college, I started a blog on DiaryLand because some of the other girls I knew were keeping personal blogs there, yes this was way back in the day. Then I had a blog on Xanga. Both of these were personal blogs full of ramblings of a naive college student attending a Southern Baptist University. Oh the good old days. My crafty blogging was born on the Xanga blog. Then I realized that I really enjoyed crafty blogging and wanted to continue to do that and drop the annoying personal angsty posts. I needed a crafty blogging name though. And one fateful night while watching American Idol, Simon called Kellie Pickler a “Naughty little minx” and CraftyMinx was born. I’m pretty sure I immediately told my bff John my idea for this name and he laughed his ass off at me. Seriously, I can’t make something that ridiculous up. I opened my Blogger account in 2006 and the rest has been history. I love blogging and sharing my crafting adventures on the web!
2. If there was a fire in your house, and you only had time to grab 4 things (excluding your family), what would they be?
1. My vintage button collection.
2. The quilt my mom made me.
3. The quilt Sheldon’s Grandmother made him
4. A box of stuff that belonged to my grandparents, It's small and has a handle so I'm counting it as one thing :)
3. If you were "forced" to take on another residence would it be a houseboat, a farm estate, a city apartment, a seaside home, or a one room cabin in the woods?
It would definitely be a (pink) cabin (cottage) in the woods but it couldn’t be too far away from society. I need city life. But it would be soo great to have an escape to my own little world. My parents lived in a one room cabin for a year while their other house was being built. This is still one of my favorite places to be.
4. If money was no object, what would be the next house or decor project that you would tackle be and describe!
Sheldon and I have been discussing what we want to do to move up from our current housing situation. But in my dream world I would stay where we are and use every bit of land and space we have to create the ultimate house out of our tiny home. This would entail knocking out walls to build a bigger kitchen, building a two-story studio in our back yard so my studio could be turned into an office for Sheldon, doing something with the loft-type attic we have and paying landscapers to make our yard fabulous, because my allergies don’t allow me to do yard work.
5. Name something you wish you had more time for.
Cleaning. It’s the first thing that gets pushed off the to-do list if I’m uber busy, which seems to be all the time right now.
