Hi there! Thanks for stopping by my little piece of the internet world. Craftyminx is me, Dana Beach, a thirty-something librarian living in Oklahoma City.
The name Craftyminx was born after an episode of American Idol when Simon called Kellie Pickler a naughty minx. I really liked the definition of minx (1. A girl or young woman who is considered pert, flirtatious, or impudent.2. Obsolete A promiscuous woman.) and related it to crafting -- a clever play on words if you will. The craftyminx blog was born the next day (January 16, 2006) on blogspot, I bought craftyminx.com and then moved everything over to Typepad in June 2008. A promiscuous crafter has always been the best way to describe me. I can't settle on one craft. I'm always learning something new and moving on, coming back to an old craft, then picking something else up. So if you're just looking for a knitting blog, or a crochet blog, or an art blog, you won't find it here. I'm all about crafting, living life to its fullest, and learning lots of new things.
I married my wonderful husband, Sheldon on September 18, 2010. He is a librarian as well and enjoys writing, watching sports, homebrewing and cooking. We have two silly dog children; Dewey (decimal system) and Dash (riprock). They are loveable jerks who get far too much attention, especially on Instagram!
I spend my days as a librarian in a small community library and and all my other time making magic in my home studio and curled up on the couch with a project in hand, dogs in my lap, and something geeky on TV. I enjoy crocheting, knitting, embroidery, paper crafts, graphic design, sewing and any other craft I can get my hands on. I love watching geeky television shows (Dr. Who, Firefly, and Wonderfalls are favorites), baking cupcakes, and finding treasures at thrift and antique stores.
This blog documents my crafty and personal life and contains many tutorials and patterns for crafty fun. So take a look around and leave a comment so I can get to know you too.
This blog has grown a lot in the past year. I get over 80,000 visitors a month. More readers means more comments and while I try to do my best to comment back, I don't always have time to do so. Blogging isn't my full time job so I can't always give it the time it needs with this many readers. I do read all your comments and usually visit your blogs as well. I love interaction with my readers!
Disclosure:
This is not a for-profit blog! I have a full-time job and only blog as a hobby. I do not have blog sponsors or take monetary payment for advertising. I am, however, an amazon affiliate. I will also occasionally accept craft supplies for review and blog about them with discretion. Know that any links, or reviews are done because I love a product. I am not influenced by, nor do I reperesent any company. I love my readers and will always be upfront and honest about any affiliate links or reviews. I do not seek out items to review and I turn down more offers than I accept based on personal time restraints.
While all the content on this blog is free, I have decided to add a donate link to the sidebar to help raise funds for more free time/labor intensive craft tutorials (like crochet school) and to help pay for the fees that are associated with running this blog. I believe a donate button adds to the community atmosphere I want to cultivate.
Comment Policy:
I delete any comments I feel are spammy or downright rude because this is my home and I want to keep it a comfortable space for my guests and myself.
