This week had some very lovely patterns I'm happy to announce that Saturday is my 100th granny and I will be celebrating with a giveaway! So meet me over there tomorrow for the big party.
Today is Arbor Day so Sheldon and I are celebrating by planting a cherry tree when we get home (we also have two lilac bushes and two azaela bushes to plant on Saturday). I ordered them from Arborday.org. I have been very happy with the cherry tree I bought from there and planted right after I bought my house (It's over 6 feet tall now!). It's a sweet cherry tree so it needed a friend to bear fruit. I knew that but I wasn't sure I could keep any trees alive at the time so I'm excited to plant a second tree and see what happens. It's been fun watching the other one grow up :)
I think I'm going to post a "what I wore" post later today. What do you think? I promise this isn't ever going to turn in to a fashion blog, but sometimes I feel cute and take pictures and think I should share them haha. Otherwise, I'm that weird girl taking pictures of herself in her backyard for no reason (vanity at its finest). And seriously, yesterday when I was taking them neighbors were outside trying to figure out what I was doing. I'll limit any clothing posts to handmade or thrifted wears only... pinky swear.

A Granny A Day: Week 13

Let's all pretend that this posted last Friday like it was supposed to. I didn't realize it was still marked as a draft instead of a timed post so it never went up. ooops. Sometimes having two blogs is a little too much for me. Week 13 was a great one! Especially because I finished the Gran's Garden blanket, but also because I started finding some more challenging squares for myself. If you know of any really difficult ones out there let me know what they are because I'm always looking for a challenge! I'm still getting ready for May to get here so I can start the Square a Day in May squares. I encourage you to join in with the group of people doing this month long challenge. The more the merrier! And a big thanks to Melissa from Hooked on Handmade for putting it together. That's a whole month of squares I don't have to plan!

I fnished the blanket on Saturday, weaved in the ends, took photos, and called my mom to come pick it up since she was in town. I've never been so happy to give something I made to someone. She was very excited about it too :). She said she was going to have to go buy all new bedding for their guest bed so it matched... so cute.
As an update to Friday's post, I had a great weekend! Dirty dishes are taking over our kitchen, none of our weeds were removed, and my studio is still a mess, but I got to spend a lot of time with family and friends and I really needed that this weekend. We have this week to clean. Highlights from the weekend include:
Friday: Family night playing Just Dance
Saturday: Finishing my blanket, Getting my hair cut and colored, and having amazing food and a fun game night with friends
Sunday: Gospel Brunch complete with a drag show, shopping with Levi and Sheldon, and going bed at 9:30 to recover from so much weekend fun.

I had a much better week except for running out of yarn yesterday. I'm all stocked up again, don't worry :).
My plan was to bring my Gran's Garden blanket to my brother and sister in-law's house tonight and finish the last round of border, but I left my pattern book at home... Fail. I guess I'll either be working on it when I get home tonight or when I wake up in the morning. I'm going to go play just dance with my niece now. Have a great weekend!

A Granny A Day: Week 11

This week was really difficult. I still managed to make my granny a day, but as you can see I didn't always have enough time to block my square or take a perfect photo. C'est la vie I suppose.
I hope next week treats me better. I've been in a funk since I got back from visiting my parents so I'm taking this weekend to stay at home and chill. I think I need more down time than most people. I've learned that my depression and anxiety starts appearing more often when I'm go, go, go all the time and when I'm not at home. It's difficult to find my balance when I work all day away from home and want to go out at night or on weekends. I didn't intend to vent today but that's just how this blog thing works sometimes. Maybe this weekend in my comfort zone will spark some creative energy that's been hiding out and I'll have some fun things to share soon? I hope!

Today is the last day for these squares. I've made a little mock up of what the blanket will look like all together without the border of course:
It's going to be soo pretty! I can't wait to finish it. I'm hoping it will be done by next weekend so I can give it to the recipient and take lots of pictures of it at its new home.
I've got to get more yarn before I continue. I'm seeing a Hobby Lobby trip happening after work tonight.
