Here's my favorite song right now. I've been playing this record a lot lately. The woman is still rocking after all these years. I'm so glad I've been able to see her live a few times, she puts on a really good show with plenty of stories from her past and a rocking voice.
I can't believe I had never seen this video before Laurendy posted it the other day. I love Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt so much and this is such a cute little dance number!
Also something else happy is that Maria is interviewing me on her blog today. So you should totally check it out. She asked some really interesting questions!
We spent the long weekend with my parents. I wasn't expecting to take a blog break, but I found myself doing nothing but connecting granny squares together all weekend. I have all but two rows finished! The dogs had a blast chasing each other all over the ranch and wore each other out every day. My dad really enjoyed getting to play with Dash and "riling him up." Sheldon enjoyed getting to go to his parent's house to watch the first OU game of the season with his family. It's nice that our folks live so close to each other.
So I have a question for you all. Now that it is finally starting to feel like fall outside, I'm ready to start thinking about fall DIYs! Do any of you have any requests? I want to do a couple of posts before October gets here, because October 1st starts crochet school!!! I'll share more info later about crochet school, but if you have any requests for fall posts, let me know!
First Aid Kit makes me think of fall, so I've been listening to a lot of their music lately. I'm ready for cool weather and being able to wear tights again!
I really didn't think I'd have enough photos to share today. My phone is full of new puppy pictures! And like I predicted, I haven't had time for anything but playing with Dash, telling Dash no, and keeping Dewey from trying to attack Dash. My nails have been unpainted for *gasp* two whole days. I'm still getting my sqaures done when we decide we're tired of trying to keep both dogs together and separate them for an hour while Sheldon plays with Dash and I snuggle on Dewey and crochet. I have two whole rows connected on the blanket I'm working on right now and I hope to do one row a night so I can finish before September.
I haven't been taking as many phone photos as I used to lately. It's not that there isn't anything interesting going on, it's just that I'm so busy I forget. Other things that made me happy this week included:
my mom coming to town on Saturday and getting to spend time with her and my cousin's son Christian.
Having crafty friends over for a little crafting and gab session in my studio.
Lots of fun with my friend Staci (for the second week in a row! Just move here already, friend.)
Dinner meet-ups with friends.
True Blood dates with Levi.
Lots and lots of watercolors.
I am truly loving life right now, but am also so busy I can't see straight most days. I wish I didn't have to spend 8 hours at work every day and 8 hours sleeping every night. It makes those "24 hours" every day seem like a joke. I always feel like I'm missing out on something.

Do you love Leslie Hall? I'm a big fan. I was reminded of this video the other day and it makes me laugh sooo hard every time I watch it. I think my crafty friends and I should do our own rendition. What do you think? I often have to tell myself to "work through the pain" with my granny squares.
Since I'm on vacation and can't compile all of my favorite photos from the week for you, I thought I would just share my summertime playlist. I have this playlist on my ipod and I have been playing it like crazy. I've shared a couple of the songs already, but they're always worth another listen I think :)
Some are new favorites, others are just summer music staples. And of course I had to add some Ramones for Sheldon. They're his favorite band. Rockaway Beach was one of our wedding songs :) What songs make you think of summer?
I had lots of fun this week! I got to get all dolled up for the OKC pride block party on Friday and danced the night away with Levi and some new friends. I also got to see my mom this weekend which is always a special treat. She even brought us fresh veggies from her garden (their first since moving to the ranch). I went to a quilt show with my mom and my aunt and saw lots of amazing quilts and got very inspired.
This week, we're getting ready for our be Vegas vacation. Lots of cleaning, packing, and what not. We have a friend housesitting for us while we're away so we're cleaning extra hard so he doesn't have to live in our messes haha.

I LOVE She & Him! I finally got their second album on vinyl and I love it so. Zooey's voice just sounds sooo good on vinyl. I've been playing this song over and over again.
Isn't Olive just the cutest one-year-old ever? Ok I'm a tad partial. Well I have good news. I'm feeling much better! I'm almost done with my antibiotics! The infection is still here, so I may need a second round of them, but it isn't sucking the life out of me currently so I'm good. I even managed thrifting with Levi on Sunday. When I'm too sick to thrift for two weeks, it's a bad bad thing.
1) Homemade margherita pizza (I'll share the recipe for the whole wheat crust later this week) 2) Dewey hanging out in our clean sheet box (Sheldon forgot to zip it and put it back under the bed) 3) Drinking Lots of Water 4) Pink anti-biotics!
Well, I called it last week. I got a sinus infection. I went to the doctor yesterday and got meds so I should be back to my old self soonish. My entire week has been spent on the couch so I don't have many pictures to share.
**Attention the rest of this post is pretty much rambling from a woman sci-fi geek who is on a ton of sinus meds. Feel free to move along ;)
Here's what I did for the 4 days I was sick:
drank a gallon of water a day and subsequently only got up to go to the bathroom and get more water. Mucinex is awesome but it makes me horribly dehydrated.
Watched season 2 and 3 of Roswell. I liked that it had an ending but it got way to "WB (or CW now)" during the second season. Still good though.
Finished watching Dollhouse. I've been meaning to do that for ages and since I wasn't going anywhere and had finished Roswell what else was I going to do? Again, it has an ending. I like that in a short-lived TV series.
Watched the last 3 episodes of Eureka that are on Netflix. Are we seeing a pattern?
Re-watched the entire series of Wonderfalls (for like the millionth time). There are only 13 episodes. I usually end up watching this or Firefly when I'm sick.
Let's talk about what a huge geek I am. Yes I love Sci-Fi shows. I rarely watch them with such passion when I'm feeling well though. There's something about not being able to move that brings it out in me I guess. I seriously did nothing for two days except crochet a granny sqaure and watch tv. Saturday I had some energy so I took a bunch of photos and blogged. But then I lost said energy and binged on TV and water some more. I'm soo glad I'm feeling better :)
Oh I also watched a couple of movies! Something I rarely do because I have the attention span of a 4-year-old. I watched Ten Inch Hero and Revenge of the Bridesmaids via Instant Netflix. I recommend watching Ten Inch Hero. The other was just silly cute. Something to pass the time with.

When it was cold out, I would listen to Best Coast like crazy. They make me think of warm, sunny weather. So now that it's nice out and I'm stuck inside all sickly, this makes me crave being at the beach even more!!
Congratulations if you finished it to the end -- I'd bake you cookies, but I'd probably cough in them and no one needs that. See, this is why I don't blog when I'm sick.
